Christ and Satan

2 Corinthians 11:4 “For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.

Another Jesus – spirit – gospel.

The greatest imitator of Jesus Christ is Satan. Be watchful of modern-day messages and worship songs. Who is the Jesus and the spirit they espouse? What gospel is being preached?

Someone says, “Christ stood at the foot of my bed and talked to me.” Listen to me, the devil could stand there, or one of his angels of light and you couldn’t tell the difference between them. If they stood right in front of you, don’t try to pick the real Christ. Instead get some verses from your Bible and believe what they say.

Again, I submit the question; if Jesus Christ appeared to you and stood at the corner of your bed, and Satan appeared and stood at the other corner, would you be able to tell them apart from each other? The devil is a master imitator of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Richard Jordan offered some great examples of this in my recent Book of Daniel class.

Jesus Christ is a King. The King of kings! Satan is the king over all the children of pride. Job 41:34, “He beholdeth all high things: he is a king over all the children of pride.” Jesus is a king. Satan is a king.

Jesus is called the preincarnate Angel of the Lord. Jesus said He is the light of the world in John 8:12. Satan is called an angel of light in II Corinthians 11:14. God is light (I John 1:5). Satan is an angel of light; Lucifer, the light bearer.

The name Christ means the anointed one. Jesus is the Christ. He is the Lord’s Christ. But Satan is a Christ; he is the anointed cherub that covereth (Ezekiel 28:14).

When they are in combat, the Lord Jesus Christ quotes scripture, “It is written”.
In the same combat, what does Satan do? He says, “It is written”. They quote
scripture in combat (Matthew 4).

They both have ministers. Jesus Christ sends out ministers; Satan sends out ministers (II Corinthians 11:13-15).

They both perform miracles. Jesus Christ performed miracles while he was on the earth. When the anti-Christ is on the earth, he is going to perform miracles (II Thessalonians 2:9, Revelation Chapters 13 and 16).

Jesus Christ is said to be the Rock. Paul says that he is our Rock (I Corinthians 10:4). In
Deuteronomy 32 (verse 31) Satan is a rock. He is their rock. Moses tells them that “our
Rock is not their rock”. Different rocks!

Jesus Christ is said to be the lion of the tribe of Judah. Did you ever notice that in I Peter 5:8 Satan is described as a roaring lion? It is not an accident that he does that.

Jesus Christ died, descended into hell and came back up again. When the anti-Christ dies, he comes back up again, and he will be the beast that ascends out of the bottomless pit.

Jesus Christ has a throne. Satan has a throne.

Jesus Christ preached for three and a half years; forty-two months on the earth. Satan is going to have his man; the anti-Christ preach forty-two months on the earth in the second half of the tribulation.

Jesus Christ in Revelation Chapter 7 (verse 3) marks those that belong to him. The anti-Christ, in Revelation 13:16, marks those that belong to him, the mark of the beast.

Jesus Christ is raised from the death. The anti-Christ (Revelation 13) comes up from the dead.

God desires worship. Do you know what Satan desires? Worship!

There are many other comparisons. If you are going to talk about a king: then which one? If you are going to talk about a Christ: which one? If you are going to talk about ministers: then whose? You just have to ask the questions.

The only way that you have to identify them is with the Book – the Bible – the Word of God. Both desire worship, so you have to be careful who you worship. You have to be careful that you worship what God says to worship in your Bible, so you do not worship the other god.

The reason that Satan attacks the King James Bible so much, is that the Book shows him for who he is. It identifies him. In the hands of believers, you can use your Bible and identify if it is Satan, or the Lord Jesus Christ.

The most perfect imitation of the Lord Jesus Christ in all the universe is Satan because Satan’s design, plan and goal is to be the Most High God. Not just to be like him, but to be like him to take God’s place.

You don’t have any way of discerning between one spirit or another except for this. God has given you a standard, a written standard to go by. It is the perfectly preserved Word of God.

A Bible with dust on it means that there is dust between someone’s heart and the Savior.

Grace and peace from our Lord Jesus Christ.
