We are looking at some scriptures that state God Is\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So far, we have seen that God Is Holy and God Is Light. In this article we will consider that God Is A Consuming Fire. This aspect of God deals with His judgment. We don\u2019t like to think about this too much, but it is an important aspect of who God is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hebrews 12:29 tells us, \u201cFor our God is<\/em> a consuming fire\u201d<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Verse 26 of this passage leads into this description of God as one who will \u201cshake earth and heaven\u201d – by His Voice. Now that\u2019s power! This is the power of God in action. He is coming back to take over!<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Lord demonstrates his fierce power and rains devouring consuming fire down upon His enemies when He returns to take over and become the King of heaven and earth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Fire comes from God\u2026 His Voice!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Isaiah 30:30 \u201cAnd the LORD shall cause his glorious voice to be heard, and shall shew the lighting down of his arm, with the indignation of his<\/em> anger, and with<\/em> the flame of a devouring fire, with<\/em> scattering, and tempest, and hailstones\u201d<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe breath of the Lord\u201d is like fire and brimstone. (vs. 33) \u201cthe pile thereof is<\/em> fire and much wood; the breath of the LORD, like a stream of brimstone, doth kindle it\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The stream of God\u2019s breath flows down into a lake of fire. By the blast of God sinners perish and are consumed. Job 4:8-9 \u201cEven as I have seen, they that plow iniquity, and sow wickedness, reap the same. 9<\/u> By the blast of God they perish, and by the breath of his nostrils are they consumed\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The lake of fire for the devil and his angels as well as sinful humanity is never quenched. The fire of God continually feeds it forever. Mark 9:47-48 \u201c\u2026to be cast into hell fire: 48<\/u> Where their worm dies not, and the fire is not quenched\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n We have seen that Fire from the Lord is associated with judgment. The originator of fire is God. Fire comes from Him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Psalm 18:13-15 \u201cThe LORD also thundered in the heavens, and the Highest gave his voice; hail stones<\/em> and coals of fire. 14<\/u> Yea, he sent out his arrows, and scattered them; and he shot out lightnings, and discomfited them. 15<\/u> Then the channels of waters were seen, and the foundations of the world were discovered at thy rebuke, O LORD, at the blast of the breath of thy nostrils\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n We know about the fire breathing dragon in mythical stories, but we never consider that we have a fire-breathing God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Revelation 1:14-15 \u201c\u2026 and his eyes were<\/em> as a flame of fire; 15<\/u> And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace\u2026\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n In this passage, fire is associated with Jesus\u2019 judgment as He prepares the earth for His return. He will cleanse the wickedness of the earth with fire prior to the 1000-year reign of the Kingdom of God. We also see this with the passing of the first heaven and earth with Fire that brings in a New Heaven and New Earth (Revelation 21:1; 2 Peter 3:12-13).<\/p>\n\n\n\n Revelation 4: 5 \u201c<\/strong>And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were<\/em> seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God\u201d<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Many people say that they would like to go to heaven and to the Throne of God. I would too. Who wouldn\u2019t! But be careful! If you were to somehow go there with your present human body, you would disintegrate immediately! Think about what Revelation 4:5 is saying. We would be frightened beyond belief!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Lightenings\u2026 Thunderings\u2026 Voices\u2026 coming out of the Throne of God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Seven Lamps of Fire burning before the Throne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n What a scene!<\/p>\n\n\n\n The message in this article is simply that we cannot even approach God in our humanity. He is too powerful and overwhelming. It would be like trending into a nuclear reactor with no protection.
