The Masterpiece of the New Testament

By Rick Combs

The new release of my book entitled, Biblical Christianity 101 – Basics of The Faith For A New Generation is already showing promise of success. It is available wherever books are sold in paperback and Kindle. You can get your copy from most online book distributors such as Amazon.com and BarnesandNoble.com.

The book covered a wide variety of basic Christianity subjects in seed form. This year 2021, I want to focus on the subject of The Cross in my posts. It is THE reason why God has given such Grace to the world in a demonstration of His Love. We will look behind the scenes of the cross. What exactly happened to Jesus when He hung suspended between heaven and earth? What happened to Him when He died? This is worthy of in-depth exploration from the Scriptures for our establishment in the Gospel of Christ. To start us off, I would like to re-post, and thank Grace Ambassadors Ministry in Swayzee, IN for their article which will help us set the stage for our discussion of the Cross. The Purest Gospel graceambassadors.com/books/romans/the-purest-gospel There is one book of the Bible that you should know more than the rest.

Martin Luther said you should learn it by heart: “It is the true masterpiece of the New Testament, and the very purest Gospel, which is well worth and deserving that a Christian man should not only learn it by heart, word for word, but also that he should daily deal with it as the daily bread of men’s souls. For it can never be too much or too well read or studied; and the more it is handled the more precious it becomes, and the better it tastes.”

No, it is not John or Matthew.

John Calvin said it is the key to hidden treasures: “When anyone gains a knowledge of this [book], he has an entrance opened to him to all the most hidden treasures of Scripture.”

No, it is not Daniel or Revelation.

Arno Gaebelein said it should be studied repeatedly: “Even if we have grasped the great doctrines of salvation as revealed in this [book] it is needful that we go over them again and again…No Christian can enjoy the Gospel and know true deliverance unless he knows the precious arguments of the first eight chapters of this [book].”

No, it is not Psalms or Proverbs. Everyone should start their study of the Bible with this book. No, it is not Genesis or Isaiah. It is responsible for saving more people in history than any other. Do you know yet which one it is? If you study just one book of the Bible, let it be this one…

It is >>>>>>>Romans!

Romans is the purest gospel, the foundation for salvation, the foothold of God’s righteousness by faith, the fountainhead of the dispensation of grace, and the beginning of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Romans is the revelation of the finished work of Jesus Christ and his offer of eternal life to all that believe. Romans establishes the believer on Paul’s gospel (the purest gospel) and the preaching of Jesus Christ according to the revelation of the mystery (Romans 16:25). If you are looking for where to start, or somewhere to revisit, Romans is the answer. Start with the first eight chapters. Rinse and repeat. Praise God for it!

“To God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ for ever. Amen.” – Romans 16:27
