Psalm 119:59 – “I thought on my ways, and turned my feet unto thy testimonies.”
Thoughts drive words and actions.
Let’s do some deductive reasoning. First, we need to look at some scriptures from the Word of God to guide us.
2 Corinthians 4:4 “In whom the god of this world has blinded the minds of them who believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.”
Ephesians 2:2 “In which in time past you walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now works in the children of disobedience.”
John 8:44 “You are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.”
From these scriptures we can be certain of the following premise;
IF: 1. Satan is the god of this world
2. He influences the course of this world
3. There is no truth in him
4. He is a liar
5. And the father of it (lies)
THEN: This world system must be fundamentally and thoroughly deceitful.
To further elaborate on this deduction, the world is full of lies. Not a few here and there, but a fundamental deception that pervades all human affairs, and is rarely perceived. They will be believed by the majority of the people. This deception is subtle and sneaky.
Since the fall of Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden, Satan became the god of this world and put the human race on a course of lies and deception. We see as a result philosophy, false religions, the wisdom of this world, evolution, and sin that by nature gets worse as time goes on. Probably the most deceitful of all are church traditions. It looks so good but is cunningly deceptive which leads many away from God and His Word. Here’s what Jesus said,
Mark 7:13 “(You have) made the Word of God of no effect through your tradition…”
The only truth, or reality comes from the Bible, the Word of God. How we think should be informed by this Word. This requires that we read, pray, meditate, and seek understanding. The Bible changes our mind (repent) to align with how God views things.
Psalms 19:7-8 “The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.”
Psalms 119:97-105 This passage is so good that I decided to include the whole thing for your thought and meditation. Make it yours…
97 “O how love I your law! it is my meditation all the day.
98 You through your commandments have made me wiser than my enemies: for they are ever with me.
99 I have more understanding than all my teachers: for your testimonies are my meditation.
100 I understand more than the ancients, because I keep your precepts.
101 I have refrained my feet from every evil way, that I might keep your word.
102 I have not departed from your judgments: for you have taught me.
103 How sweet are your words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!
104 Through your precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way.
105 Your word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”
As Christians we want to chart for ourselves a different course.
Grace and mercy be unto you.
